The University of Kentucky leadership wanted to break the stigma associated with having to eat dreadful food in a dreadful hospital cafeteria. The entire dining experience was reimagined into this new servery and dining space. SH along with Rippe Associates (Foodservice designer) took care to develop a flow within the servery that highlighted the many different culinary offering stations while ensuring efficient throughput. The dining space became a respite space to enjoy your meal while looking at the locally commissioned artwork to help distract visitors, patients, and staff from the potentially stressful hospital life swirling around amongst them. The project also included an entirely brand new kitchen that focused on meal prepping for the hundreds of patient rooms within the Albert B. Chandler Hospital.
