This 7.5 acre site sat unused for decades in the heart of West Allis, Wisconsin as it was home to a demolished industrial facility. Extensive remediation was required along with a Barrier Maintenance plan to turn this eyesore into a beautiful and much needed facility that will serve to treat the mental health needs of the community. The nearby County facility was closing its doors which would leave a huge treatment void in the area. Universal Health Services, Inc. saw this as a wonderful opportunity to build a new behavioral health hospital, and the City welcomed the development of a long forgotten site in a hard-working neighborhood just west of downtown Milwaukee. Granite Hills Hospital is constructed to house 120 beds with plans for future growth. The facility is bordered by a neighborhood, railroad transit, and new commercial developments as the City of West Allis is hard at work enhancing their thriving community.
