This project included the construction of two new, highly resilient public works facilities totaling 20,684 square feet: the Public Works Administration & Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and the Operations Building. Both structures were designed to withstand Category 5 hurricane conditions, incorporate redundant emergency systems, and are located above the 500‑year floodplain to ensure uninterrupted operations during major storm events.
The single‑story Administration & EOC Building (4,476 SF) serves as the city’s emergency coordination hub and administrative headquarters. The facility includes offices, conference rooms, secure communications space, support areas, and amenities to accommodate staff during emergency response operations. Solar strategies, including roof‑mounted panels and site lighting, help offset energy demand.
The single‑story Operations Building (16,208 SF) supports both daily public works functions and emergency response. It combines office space with warehouse and shop areas designed to house and protect city vehicles and equipment. In emergency situations, the building also functions as a shelter for first responders. Both buildings are sustainably designed and constructed for long‑term durability, safety, and performance.
